Map of Canada

TSX Group, Inc.

At the heart of the Canadian financial markets stand two national stock exchanges, the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange. They are operated by TSX Group, Inc., the Toronto Stock Exchange serving the senior equity market and TSX Venture Exchange serving the public venture equity market.

Spanning more than 150 years of history in the Canadian capital markets, the Toronto Stock Exchange provides an efficient liquid market for senior equities. A growing number of global industries are represented on the Toronto Stock Exchange, one of the largest in the Americas.

As the twentieth century came to a close, Canada’s capital equity markets consolidated. This consolidation proved timely with the total computerization of the global trading platforms, allowing the Exchange to become a real global player in the senior equity markets, particularly the explosive global energy and natural resources markets.

Recognizing a growing global trend, Canada also provides an alternative for small quoted issues, the TSX Venture Exchange. Head officed in Calgary, the TSX Venture Exchange is a standards-based market, which through their highly regulated sponsorship led program, allows growing companies access to public venture capital incrementally, enabling them to grow and expand at a more rational and balanced rate.
